1. Two way process : Communication is possible only when there at least two persons,one sender and the other receiver.

2. It is Continuous process  : Communication is not an art or event at an instance of time rather it is continuous process incorporating various events and activities that are inter-related and inter-dependent.

3. It is Goal Oriented process :  The end result of  communication of understanding between the sender and the receiver of information.

4. Pervasive Activity  :  It is Pervasive activity it takes place at all levels and in all functional areas (Production,Finance, Marketing,etc) of a business enterprise.

5. Verbal And Non Verbal : Communication cannot only be communicated through verbal words alone but a manager can even communicate through symbols, gesture, and actions which are non- verbal in nature.  

6. Information Sharing and Understanding : Communication involves both both transfer of information as well as of understanding between two or more person.
