Types of Communication

TYPES OF COMMUNICATION :

VERBAL COMMUNICATION: The term verbal denotes the use of the words.when words used in the communication, we call it verbal communication The thoughts in words can be either conveyed either orally or by writing. 


TWO TYPES OF VERBAL COMMUNICATION




ORAL COMMUNICATION: It is the communication by the way of uttering words, that is speaking.Speaking is the fastest, most direct type of communication. in oral communication, both the parties of communication process sender and receiver exchange their ideas through  oral words, either in face to face communication or through electronic devices like telephone.Oral communication comes in many forms in the organisation. It includes formal staff meetings,planned conferences, and mass meetings,important conversations are maid on day to day basis fir giving directions,and maintenance of effective interpersonal relation

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION : Written communication is powerful media in all walks of life. Even if we have to have have to handle all our social and business communication on day-to-day basis Still need to prepare written message.Written message is many form of letter, circulars, notes, manuals, house magazine etc. With the advent of Internet, written communication has been facilitated. To be effective, written communication must be clear complete, correct and understandable.

NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION: Non verbal communication involves exchanging information or transmitting data without the use of words. There are many examples or non verbal communication like body language and facial expressions etc.
While understanding non verbal communication one may require some knowledge of the cultural and social meaning behind the symbols and signs used.
    Over the years,numerous research studies have been done to suggest that babies respond to smiling faces the world over,and that when a person sees someone else smile,ha may becomes a bit happier as well.

Objective of communication

             Objective of Communication :             
1.  Smooth and unrestricted running of the enterprise:The smooth and unrestricted running of an enterprise depends in toto on an effective system of communication. In every organisation , big or small , may it be in the public or private sector,'communication 'plays a major role For instance, if you clerks and the peons busy with the disposal of some sort of 'communication'.

2. Quick decision and Implementation : Communication helps the administration in arriving at vital decisions . In its absence it may not be possible for the top administrators  to come in closer contact with each other and discuss the important problems pertaining to be organisation. 

3. Basis of Control : The system of maintaining control over the activities of the organisation consists of : firstly, laying certain objectives or targets, secondly,comparing actual performance with the targets and thirdly, taking corrective action in case of deviations. 

4. Helps in Motivation and Leadership : Management can motivate and lead employees through communication only. The employees have to be told what they have to do and how they have to do. If the employees are not aware of the expectations of the management, how and for what  goal will they strive for? It is through communication that a formal leader, that is the manager, guides and supervises his employees.

5. Public Image:  Existence of good communication system in the organisation helps in projection of a good image of the organisation in the eyes the people dealing with it. Good communication is another name for good public relation.

      Importance of Communication :

 1. Base for Action  : Communication acts as a base for any action. Starting of any activity begins with communication which brings information necessary to begin with.

2. Planning Become Easy : Communication facilitates planning. Planning is made easy by communication . Any type of information regarding the human resource requirement of each department of the organisation with their qualifications, the type and kinds of job etc.

3. Means of Coordination : Communication is an important tool for coordinating the efforts of various people at work on the organisation.

4. Aids in Decision Making : The information collected through communication aids in decision making. Communication facilitates access to the vital information required to take decisions.

5.Provides Effective Leadership : A Communication skill bring manager near to his subordinates and exchange ideas and submits appropriate proposals, knows their opinions, seeks advices and make decisions.
